TURN AROUND DON'T DROWN

It's official, the continuous rain now has a name to be remembered by: SUMMER FLOOD '07. Most of the dangerous flooding has occured northwest of Austin, but we are all seeing the effects. Lake Travis is 12 feet higher than capacity, Lake Austin is full, full, full and the LCRA dam system is being put to the test. Not to mention all the folks who have been forced to leave their destroyed homes and businesses. And the rain doesn't appear to be letting up anytime soon.

Last night we went out to dinner and it began raining again as we were driving home. When we pulled up the driveway, the doggies were huddled up under the eave by the garage door. It was really cute and kind of funny. They are such good babies.

Another time it flooded in Austin, Renee' was having to drive home from her job when flash flooding began; so I called to check on her and was worried because I'd seen news of dumpsters floating around! That was bad news to me; when dumpsters are floating, you gotta watch out! Now anytime there is flooding, my Dad calls and tells me to watch out for dumpsters.

The one thing about floods is that we are reminded of one of God's promises. After flooding the earth to wipe wickedness from mankind, God made a covenant with Noah.
And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." Genisis 9:12-16
*note a few of my favorite rainbow pictures*

Here are some photos from our local news station, submitted by folks in the flooding areas.

"Renee'! There are dumpsters floating around! You DO NOT need to be driving around! Your little car could get taken out by a floating dumpster! Do you realize how heavy those things are!?!!!"
