EVEN K-9s LOVE CUPCAKES

I bet that, if allowed, Sadie would be all over some pink cupcakes. In fact, I was on the verge of giving her a cupcake Tuesday because she had to go to the vet. Monday night she hurt her foot and it was bleeding pretty bad. Aaron cleaned and bandaged it; but it was still bleeding Tuesday morning, so he took her to the vet. They shot her up with antibiotics, stopped the bleeding and bandaged her paw. Poor little girl. Well, not really. It didn't slow her down. But she knows how to push my sympathy button; she just looks up at me with that big brown puppy eye and I melt. I was this close to making her cupcake dreams come true.

MINE

I adore this man. And even on the days our marriage is more work than it is fun, there is no one in the world who makes me want to work harder.

For our Valentine's Day celebration, we took a little trip to Taco Bueno and then rented a movie. I had created a cross-word puzzle for Aaron using words and clues that mean special things to us. He completed it in about 10.3 seconds, which made me feel really good because he instantly knew all the answers to the random clues. No one else would have been able to guess the answers.

When we got in bed, or more correctly, when I got in bed and Aaron tucked me in (yes, he occasionally tucks me in because I usually go to bed about 3 hours before him) he kissed me goodnight and said, "I'm glad you're my Valentine." I definitely had sweet dreams.

HAPPY PINK CUPCAKE DAY!

I hope your day is full of sweet treats, hugs and kisses, something pink, something chocolate, maybe a little coconut jig, friendly smiles, and possibly smelly flowers (good smelly not bad smelly). . . and anything else that reminds you of love and hearts.

I was looking around for funny Valentines to give Aaron and came across this one. Is it bad that I thought it was appropriate? I even kind of think Aaron might say he's seen this exact crazed look once or twice. . .maybe . . . I know, it's hard to believe. Maybe what this Valentine is really portraying is a girl mad at anyone who says her boyfriend isn't perfect.

WEEKEND UPDATE

Not much going on around here. However, Renee' noted we are officially in PINK cupcake season, with Valentine's Day this month. So I'll be devoting some time each week to celebrating PINK cupcake season. Duncan Hines yellow cake mix? Check. Strawberry icing? Check.

Aaron made some beef jerky last week. It's his Dad's famous Bussey's Best Beef (or Venison) Jerky recipe - and I have to say, I'm not usually a fan of jerky, but I do love the Bussey recipe.

Poppa and Martha came to Austin for a visit this weekend. We had a really nice time. It was nice to have them all to ourselves for a while. We started with lunch at Satellite, had a leisurely afternoon and stroll through the new Hill Country Galleria and finished off the evening at the new Bee Cave Casa de Luna El Arroyo. A lovely way to spend the weekend.

Sadie and Scoopie have been enjoying their Stay-at-Home-Dad for the past few weeks. They have long walks and lots of snuggle time. Here they are enjoying the afternoon sun. I think Scoop might need some sunglasses for her birthday.
